Gas fireplaces don\u2019t make as much of a mess because they don\u2019t leave behind ash like wood-burning fireplaces do. That doesn\u2019t mean you won\u2019t have to clean a gas fireplace. Over time, they do accumulate dirt and dust, which you don\u2019t want clogging up the gas ports. To clean your gas fireplace effectively, you\u2019ll want to have a vacuum cleaner with attachments, wood stove glass cleaner, a new soft paintbrush, a soft cloth, and some soap. Make sure the gas valve is in the off position and all of the gas fireplace\u2019s components are cool. Examine the burner and control area. Use the vacuum\u2019s hose attachment to clean dust, debris or spider webs out of the fireplace. Take gas logs outside and brush off dirt or dust with a paintbrush. Keep in mind gas logs are generally easy to scratch, so a soft paintbrush is best for this task. Spray some wood stove glass cleaner onto a dry cloth and use to clean the glass doors. Starting on the outside and moving to the inside will ensure you don\u2019t accidentally smear anything from the inside on the outer glass. Use the clean damp cloth to wipe down the outer edges of your fireplace. Make sure you don\u2019t expose brass, marble, or gold to corrosive or abrasive cleaners.
