Rodents want to enter your home so they can stay warm and enjoy your food supply. There are several pests that can attempt to enter your home through your chimney including birds, bats, squirrels, raccoons, and more. While some of these creatures will make it into your chimney but not your home, they could still be causing problems and you should learn how to keep them away. One of the easiest and most effective ways to keep animals out of your chimney is by closing the flue after using your fireplace. You can also opt to install a door to your fireplace. While closing your chimney\u2019s flue may seem easy, many people forget to do so after using their fireplace. Installing a chimney cap can give you extra protection. You should also have your chimney inspected to make sure there aren\u2019t any cracks that allow insects to enter.
